New Product Blog Hop!

Welcome to our little blog hop!  This is a short hop, BUT you will get a peek at ALL of the new Close to my Heart paper packs.  So go get your beverage of choice now, we'll wait, and then come back and check out the hop!

So the hop is starting here, with Chantilly AND Claire!  These are seriously 2 of my favourite packs form this book.  I think the reason I love them so much is because of the versatility of them.  You can use them for boy or girls just by flipping the paper over, but I'll show you that later.

First up is the Chanitlly album I made using the Chantilly paper, Chantilly Compliments Dimensional Elements and the My Creations Memory Showcase.  Now this will be the item that we'll be creating for the Creative Club this month.  AND the cost for it is only $15 (if you're not local and need it shipped to you, please add an extra $5).

*I apologize for all the stuff in the background.  Some of the pictures I uploaded won't let me use the cropped ones.

And here is the card that we made using the Claire paper pack at my launch party this past Saturday.  It also uses the stamp set from the Cricut Art Philosophy Collection as well as the Sky and Sorbet alcohol based markers.  The pattern came from Make it from your Heart Volume 1.

So now that you are done with me, hop on over to Tracey's blog and see what she's done with Surf's Up!

How do you Crop?

No pictures for you today.  I've been busy creating but some of it is for a blog hop at the end of the month, and I want to keep it under wraps until then.

I do however have a question for you.  I am in the beginning stages of planning a fundraising crop for our Relay for Life team this year.  When you go to an all day crop, what do you like to do/see?
  • Freebies?
  • Food?  Or provide your own?
  • Workshops?
  • Games?
  • Nothing.  Just let me get my cropping done.
Can't wait to hear your answers.  :)

New Workshop on the Go Club

My new Workshop on the Go Club will be starting in February  This will be a great way to complete a couple of layouts each month, AND have paper left over to create more.

I'm looking for 6 people to commit to this club.  The cost will be approx $37.50 each month (if you are not local, additional shipping charges will apply).  You will receive the WOTG kit that has been selected for that month, as well as the opportunity to attend a workshop to complete the kit, using my ink, blocks and tools.  One of the month's YOU will be the host, and will be able to choose some free product!  And when it's your month to host, you also have the opportunity to host a gathering or book party to get more orders to increase your free product!

In February we will complete the Chantilly WOTG.

If you are interested, please contact me ASAP.

For more information, be sure to check out my WOTG Club page at the top of this blog.

January's Creative Club Selection

So I was able to complete my sample for the Create this month.  You have until January 25 to contact me to order it.  Sorry for the quality of the picture, I couldn't get my photos form the camera to load properly, so I had to use my phone.

This month we will be creating an album using the My Creations bookmark album, the Avonlea paper pack and the Avonlea Compliments Canvas shapes.

The cost for this is $22.50 CDN and includes everything you need to complete it including directions.  A great thing about this album - there is NO stamping!!  So if you don't have inks or blocks and don't want to invest in them you don't need to.  If you'd like it shipped to you, add an extra $5.  If there is more than 1 to be shipped to an address, contact me directly for shipping.

Supplies used(all CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Paper: Avonlea
Embellishments: Avonlea Canvas Shapes, sparkles, ribbon
Other items: My Creations bookmark Album

RELAY FOR LIFE

The Canadian Cancer Society is a cause that is near and dear to my heart.  We all have our story of our family members/friends who have been affected by this disease, and I'm not different.  My parents were diagnosed within 7 months of each other.  Mom won her battle and has been cancer free for 10 years!!!!!  While dad unfortunately lost his battle about 8 months after his diagnosis.

I wanted to participate in my first relay in 2003 as this was the first one after my parents were diagnosed, but it was the night before my wedding so I didn't think that would be the best idea.  Instead we got a team together for 2004 and watched mom walk in the survivor lap, and then lit luminaries in memory of dad and all the others who weren't able to join us.  We continued each year, until I moved accross the province, but the team still continued for a couple of years.

Now that I'm back, we're at it again.  And we need your help.  As this is our first year back, our goal is a modest $5000.  We are in the process of planning some exciting events along the way to raise some additional money as well.  But if you'd like to support us by making a donation, then check out our team page here.

Fitness Friday

So last week I wrote that I'm going to be running my first 1/2 marathon in April.  Well...... now I'm not.  I chickened out.  I am still going to run, it will just be 10K instead.  I was worried that I wouldn't' be able to complete the 1/2 marathon, and then I'd be disappointed, yada, yada.  So 10K it is - which quite frankly for a non-runner still scares the crap out of me.

So I've started using a C 2 10 K app, so that I will be able to run the 10K.  I don't have any time guestimates as of yet, I'd just like to finish.  LOL!  So this week, I have only completed one day of the training.  :( I've pulled a muscle in my back, so I don't want to risk making it worse.  But I do want to try to share with you each Friday how many km's I've run/walked the previous week.  I will however keep it to just my training sessions.

Week 1 - 3.45Km in 32.59 mins

Have a great weekend!

Project Life

So I've heard for the last couple of years about this "Project Life thing", and I never knew what it was other than people seemed to be trying to take at least one picture every day of the year.  Personally to me it seemed like an awful lot to commit to.  I mean if it was me, not only would I have to remember to take a picture every day, but then I'd have to do something with it.  And considering the fact that I'm a good 2-3 years behind on my scrapping, I knew this wasn't going to happen.

Being the beginning of the year, people are talking about it again.  So I thought I'd look into it a little more.  I Googled project life and all the information from Becky Higgins (who I believe was the original creator) came up.   After reading that, plus some information from some fellow Close to my Heart Consultant's, I've decided that I"m going to join in the fun.

So from what I can tell, you basically either (A) create a layout for each day of the year documenting your life, (B) create a double page layout for each week of the year, or (C) create a double page layout for each month of the year.  I've decided to go with the middle option.  I've put a notebook in my bedside table so I can document each day before I go to bed each night.  Now some days aren't very exciting (ie: went for a walk or tried a new recipe), but at least I've got something to start with.  And because the idea is for you to be able to make the scrapbook quickly, it seems as though most people basically divide their pages into 6 spots, and create journal mats that are 4x6, so that you can just add some words, throw down a few pictures and go.  You could even purchase page protectors that are already divided that way (like Close to my Heart's Photo Storage pages.  And they are available in both horizontal.)

Well, if you've ever scrapped with me, you know that I tend to make A LOT of layouts with the intention of adding pictures to them later.

This pile alone has 40 blank layouts in it.  And I  know there are more around.  So as I work on my Project Life album (I'm still working on my own name for it), my goal is to also use up as may of these layouts as I can.  If you are not like me and don't hoard layouts, then you may be interested in the kit that I'm working on putting together.  It will consist of all Close to my Heart products, but you will be able to customize it to fit your style and needs.  I'm hoping to keep the cost somewhere between $50-$75 - not bad to have a whole scrapbook done for a year.  Once I have the details finalized I'll be sure to post them.

Happy Crafting!

CANDY TIME!!!

Since I'm trying to get back into the swing of things and be better about posting, I've decided to give away some blog candy!

This is what's up for grabs:

This is the retired Festive Memories Card kit from Close to my Heart.  It has everything you need to create 12 cards for next Christmas.  AND there is a place to hold a 5x7 photo on each card.

Now in order to be entered into the draw, you must do the following 2 things....

1. You MUST be a follower of my blog.

2.  You must leave a comment and tell me what your favorite paper crafting technique is.

I know you want to know when I'll be doing the draw for this, well I don't have a date in mind.  Instead, once I reach 200 followers on my blog AND have 100 "LIKES" on my Facebook page I'll make the draw.  And to make this candy a little sweeter, when I reach 100 "LIKES" on my Facebook page, I'll also be doing a draw there - for something different.  But you'll have to head over there to see what it is.  :)

Monday HaHa

I'm hoping that this doesn't offend anyone, but this was exactly how I felt this weekend.

New to Paper Crafting??

Are you new to paper crafting and don't know where to start?  Let me suggest one of Close to my Heart's Workshop on the Go's.

Here is the Avonlea Cardmaking Project - perfect if you want to start small and you're not sure if full scrapbook layouts are for you.

The cost of the kit is $29.95.  You will create 15 beautiful cards - 5 each of the 3 designs shown above.  And it will only take you about 3 hours.  The kit comes with all the cards, envelopes, paper, ribbon, sparkles and the stamp set you'll need.  The only additional items that you will need to purchase are the blocks to put the stamps on, ink, adhesive and a paper trimmer.

Monthly Creative Club

Monthly (no-commitment) Creative Club

Do you like to make fun projects at a great price or for FREE? Do you like to learn new techniques? Do you like to earn free products? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, my Creative Club is for you!

Starting in January 2013, my Creative Club will "meet" 15th of the month.  If the locals choose to we can set up a time to get together to work on the projects, otherwise they will be ready for pick up and/or mailing by the 15th.

Here is more information on the Club:
You may join the club at any time and there is no commitment to stay in the club for any length of time or to place an order. There will be a small fee (depending on the project) for the supplies used for the projects we make which will range from cards to small gift items, to scrapbook pages, and more. Each person who signs up for this club will have their name added to the bottom of the hostess list. The person whose name is on the top of the list will get the hostess rewards that month. In order for your name to keep its “place” on the list, you must place a $25 minimum order (before shipping and taxes) whether you attend the class that month or not. If you do not place a $25+ order that month, then your name goes down to the bottom of the list. If you do place a $25+ order, then your name continues to move up the list AND you will get $5 off your kit for that class. (For example, if the class is $10 that month, your kit will only be $5 or if the class is $5 that month, your kit will be FREE!) Long distance members pay an additional $5 to have their project kits mailed to them.

Club members will also receive:
··         Free Hostess Rewards during your hosting month
·         Optional monthly classes with project kits
·         Opportunity to hold a home workshop, gathering, or catalog party to boost your hostess benefits
·         $5 discounts on all of my other workshops and classes while you are a member
·         Other freebies and surprises...

Contact me at heathercm@gmail.com for more information, to sign up for next month’s class, or to order your own club kit(s).

Check my blog and/or facebook page  for upcoming club projects.

January's project will be posted soon.....

New for 2013

I thought I'd share my thoughts for the blog for the upcoming year....

I need to get back on track crafting wise.  I have a beautiful "nook" in the new house to craft in and have only sat down a handful of times to craft.  And that was only because I had a card swap due.  So I'll be challenging myself to be creating at least 1 project per week.  I know that might not sound like much, but given my track record last year 1 should be plenty for me to do.

I have signed up to run a 1/2 marathon at the end of April.  I am officially scared.  When I signed up for it back in early November I thought that would give me lots of time to train for it.  Well I haven't been very good about going out and running in the cold.  So my now that I've put this in "print" in the cyber world, I'll hold myself accountable to it.

Over the past year I've "met" some great people through various facebook groups.  Like me, most of them are a consultant or owner for their own business.  I'd like to try to tap into some of these resources and be able to share them with you and do some reviews of their products.  I have a handful already that I'm in contact with, but if you have a product that you'd like me to review, but sure to drop me an email with the details.

Be sure to check back tomorrow as I share my new no-commitment Close to my Heart Creative club with you.
